Indication
INDICATIONS
Intravesical use for recurrence prevention in low grade bladder cancer after transurethral resection
Dosing
DOSAGE & ADMINISTRATION
There are a variety of intravesical regimens for mitomycin, which differ in terms of the dose used, the frequency of instillation and the duration of therapy.
Unless otherwise specified, mitomycin is instilled into the bladder once weekly at a dosage of 20 – 40 mg. Treatment regimens with instillations every 2 weeks or once a month can also be used.
The decision for the best possible regimen with optimal frequency of use and duration of therapy should be made by the specialist based on the individual patient situation.
For reconstitution, the contents of the 10 mg vial should be dissolved in 25 mL water for injections.
Contraindications
CONTRAINDICATIONS
Patients who have demonstrated a hypersensitive or idiosyncratic reaction to the active substance or to any of the excipients
Patients with thrombocytopenia, coagulation disorder, or an increase in bleeding tendency due to other causes
Patients with perforation of the bladder wall
Patients who are pregnant or are breast-feeding
Patients who are administered yellow fever vaccine or phenytoin as a prophylactic drug
